Students at BPMS learn to underhand roll and dodge in the game of "Dr. Feelgood!"

"Dr. Feelgood" is a wonderful game that we touch upon one class per year.  Students are on two teams, each team gets one half of the gym that they must stay on the whole game.  Each team has a "Hospital" (coned off area), with two or three "Doctors" holding their scooter ambulances in each of the hospitals.

Teammates jobs are to roll foam balls on the ground and hit the other team members in the feet or legs.  If a student gets hit they must sit down right where they were hit and call a doctor for help.  The "Doctor" puts the student on the ambulances and performs a "Rescue."  Once safely rescued to the hospital, the sick student, switches spots with the doctor and becomes the next doctor.  This game recycle's itself (no end and no winner or loser, which is great!).  Students in Ms. Linder's grade 1-2 class scene above played this game for 27 minutes!  That's a lot of rolling!!!

Mr. Shackett's side note:
-"You can teach the sport of "Bowling," which is a recreational sport enjoyed by adults in order to cover the skill theme of "underhand rolling," or you can find FUN ways that are more relevant to the population you serve to touch upon the skill of underhand rolling.  "Dr. Feelgood" stimulates the imagination of children of grade K,1 and 2 age.  It turns a skill that might otherwise not be that exciting to all students, very enjoyable because they have a task they can relate to and get excited about!  Who doesn't want to make their classmates "SICK", become a "DOCTOR" or get saved by a "DOCTOR!""

Nice job Ms. Linder's class

Best,

Mr. Shackett
