We are about half way through our Jump Rope Unit...

-Above is a video of 3rd and 4th graders at MCS working in their Jump Rope Routine Groups to develop and refine their routines using short ropes, long ropes, chinese ropes and jump bands.  They were working hard today!

-The video above is 1st and 2nd graders at MCS working on their jump rope foot work refinement by jumping over a stationary rope.  Students were shown different foot "tricks" and then challenged to move around the gym and try each trick at each different rope.  This is important to do in the primary grades to prepare students for when they start to turn a rope around their body and then attempt these footwork tricks while turning the rope.

-The above video is of our grade 1-2 students at MCS showing off their "circle jump rope routines" that they created at the end of their class yesterday.  Students had 5 minutes to create a jumping routine that evolved around their circle.  Students got to think outside the box and ad some other physical tricks in too.  Nice job to all students that took a risk to perform in front of their class!

Jump Rope Unit is moving right along at all grade levels.

Best,

-Mr. Shackett
