Grades K-2 Stations/Centers: A magnificent way to learn and practice skill themes...

-In the above video a 1-2 grade class participates in 4 skill stations/centers.  I usually like to pick 4 of the same skill themes (based on the given unit of instruction) and give different activities at each station based on the chosen skill theme.  I break the class into 4 squads (typically 3-6 students in each squad) and they spend about 5 minutes at each station before rotating to the next station.  We rotate "clockwise", which always makes for a wonderful teachable moment!

On Fridays stations the following skill themes were learned and practiced: striking with long handled implements and kicking for accuracy.  These were lead up activities to the sports of Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Badminton and Soccer that are essential to learn in K-2 so students can be successful in the 3-6 PE curriculum.

Enjoy the video!

Best,

-Mr. Shackett
