-It was a interesting to see how much geographical knowledge 3rd and 4th grades students had when searching for a State on the US map in the BPMS gym...
In "State Lingo Bingo" students picked a group of 3 or 4 to be in and then found a hoop with a Bingo card in it. We played "U", horizontal and vertical bingo. While waiting for each round to start group members would pick the States of which they would find the correct Capital spot to. The laminated spots were spread out throughout the center circle of the gym.
In order to earn a trip to the middle students had to run one full lap around the perimeter of the gym. Once a lap was run by a student they had earned a trip to the middle to go and search for the capital on a laminated piece of paper. However, most students did not know their States given capital name off the top of their head so they had to stop by the US map that was taped to the wall first (see below pictures). Once the state was located students could find the "starred" capital on the map and then go to the middle and find that spot and bring it back to place on their groups bingo card. the first team to finish the given bingo task for a given round was declared the "winner!"
