-Some narration in the video above to explain what's going on. Students got into groups of 3-4 and found a "Home Base" (Hula hoop with orange cone and two dice in it). To start, they rolled the dice and added up the two numbers, whatever the numbers added up to is how many game spots (each hula hoop is a game spot) they traveled. Once a group arrived at the correct game spot, they had to read the action card in the spot and do that given activity and then roll again to see how many spots they must travel. Every time a group/team made it completely around the game board they got to go to the middle and grab one point (a colored Popsicle stick). Whichever team had the most points at the end was declared the team with the most points :)
Before the game started we reviewed some good strategies in being able to quickly subitize the total number of "dots" after the roll. This game entitled "Action Packed" was just as it's title states: no standing around, non stop moving, cooperation, and tremendous reinforcement and practice of previously learned skills (we have covered all the skills in this video in prior skill center days). Lets not forget that to be successful teams/groups had to read the game card and do some math (counting game spots, how many "dots" total on the two rolled dice).
